ABOUT TAP
The Teaching As A Profession consists of three three courses.
Year 1: Examining the
Teaching Profession
Teaching as a Profession (TAP) is a class where students explore different teaching methods, current events in the field of education, and the skills and fundamentals needed for an internship. Students will create lesson plans, lead the class, create and participate in interactive classroom activities and intern with the Milton CBI Department or at Crabapple Elementary School. Students will enjoy many elements of a stress free, fun, “family atmosphere” and will meet many new friends! Additional topics/activities:

Facilitate team building activity

Hear from speakers representing a variety of educational fields

Learn employment skills such as resume, cover letter, follow up letters

Job Shadow Day at CCES

Educational retreats and field trips to KSU, UGA, and/or UNG

Explore different types of learners (kinetic, visual, auditory, etc.) and exceptionalities (types of learning differences, disabilities, etc.)
Year 2: Current Issues
Second year students will participate in all of the above, plus

Intern at Crabapple Crossing Elementary.

Model lesson plans and teach lessons to other classmates.

Inspire classmates and encourage the career field of education

Lead the class through Classroom Enhancements such as Positivity Notes, TAPsGiving, Birthdays and TAPsoWeen.
Year 3: Teaching Practicum
Third year students will participate in all of the above, plus

Create an educational portfolio

Lead the class as class mentor and through FGE--Future Georgia Educators.

College credit opportunity: If students take the class three years, create an educational portfolio and pass the End of Course Pathway assessment, they receive college credit for EDUC 2110 or a comparable Intro to Education course at any Georgia college and university. Other colleges and universities may also award the credit.

Paid student teaching internship program in Fulton: TAP students who meet the qualifications of the program will be guaranteed a spot once they start their student teaching.
